Sherif Gad, head of the Egyptian Association for Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, confirmed in a congratulatory telegram that he sent to the Russian Ambassador, Georgiy Borisenko, the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Cairo, that Victory Day, which is celebrated in the world every year on the ninth of May, follows the victory of the Allied Powers, led by the Soviet Union, over Nazism and fascism at the conclusion of the war. The Second World War, after humanity lost 50 million people, more than half of whom were from the peoples of the Soviet Union, is considered a global holiday for all the peoples of the Earth in a historic victory for the Soviet army, whose main body was the Russian people, which means that the world owes Russia and the army of the Soviet Union this great victory.
For his part, Dr. Fathi Tugan, Secretary General of the Alumni Association, said that despite the disintegration of the Soviet Union, Victory Day on May 9 still unites the peoples of the countries of the former Soviet Union. It is a common victory in which every citizen of the Soviet Union contributed, whether a soldier in the army or a citizen on the home front. On the other hand, the Russian ambassador congratulated the Russian community in Egypt on the 79th anniversary of the Great Victory over Nazi Germany, which was achieved on May 9, 1945, after the enormous sacrifices made by the peoples of the Soviet Union, who endured many bloody invaders who sought to enslave the entire world. With us are the Allied countries in this great victory.
Borisenko stressed that the world today is in turmoil due to the aggression of NATO countries against Russia, and the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are exposed to fierce aggression from Israel, with the support of NATO countries as well, and we must make an effort to curb the aggressors and new interventionists who see themselves as the main race among the peoples, and seek to impose their will on the people. Majority in the world, establishing their own rules everywhere and seizing other people’s resources.
The Russian ambassador pointed out that what Russia is doing today is defending the future of all humanity, a future free of dictatorship for the sake of a better future for humanity.
