Ambassador Abu Zeid explained that Minister Sameh Shoukry was keen, at the beginning of the call, to congratulate Mr. Cho Tae-yul on assuming the duties of his new position, expressing his aspiration towards joint work with him to develop relations between the two countries. The two ministers also affirmed their pride in the comprehensive cooperative partnership existing between Egypt and South Korea, which contributed to enhancing cooperation in many priority sectors for the two countries, as well as expressing their aspiration towards enhancing and raising the level of coordination and consultation between the two countries through bilateral consultation mechanisms.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that the two ministers consulted on ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, as Minister Shukry stressed Egypt’s interest in attracting more Korean investments to the Egyptian market, especially in areas in which the Korean side has extensive experience and meets Egyptian needs, reviewing in this context the opportunities. And the facilities provided by Egypt to enhance the investment climate.
Ambassador Abu Zeid added that the two ministers’ discussions also touched on positive cooperation between the two countries in the field of exchanging support for international nominations, as Minister Sameh Shoukry expressed his appreciation for the two countries’ keenness to continue this mutual support, stressing his interest in its continuation during the coming period.
The official spokesman stated that Minister Sameh Shoukry was keen during the call to congratulate Mr. Cho Tae-yul on his country’s win of non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for the years 2024-2025, praising the cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the United Nations, and noting the aspiration for permanent coordination regarding Arab and African issues. priority on the Council’s agenda.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman concluded his statements by saying that the call also touched on developments in the security and humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and international movements to push for an end to the war in the Strip, as Minister Shukri praised South Korea’s position in voting in favor of the recent draft Arab resolution in the Security Council, as well as its continuation in Its funding for UNRWA and its provision of support for international relief efforts, expressing Egypt’s reliance on the role that South Korea can play within the framework of pushing towards a complete ceasefire and the immediate implementation of urgent humanitarian aid.
For his part, the South Korean Foreign Minister praised Egypt’s tireless efforts to stop the war in the Gaza Strip and enhance the access of aid to the people of the Strip, stressing his country’s continued support for efforts to restore peace and stability in the Middle East region and prevent the conflict from getting out of control.
