On the occasion of celebrating the first full moon of the lunar new year, and the approaching month of Ramadan, the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) hosted yesterday a group of students at the Sejong Institute for teaching the Korean language and a number of Korean students studying in Egypt.
Traditionally, Koreans celebrate the first full moon on an occasion called “Jeonggul Daeborium,” coinciding with the start of the planting season. This occasion is of great importance, as Koreans write wishes for good luck and happy news in the new year, as well as eating traditional foods in order to Health and abundant harvest.
Participants enjoyed the experience of wearing hanbok, writing their wishes in Korean, and eating nuts and some Korean food.
The celebration is organized as part of the Hello Korea event, which provides a rich experience for participants to learn closely about the components of Korean culture, and which is scheduled to be organized on a monthly basis during the current year.
For his part, Oh Sung Ho, Director of the Cultural Center, expressed his sincere wishes to the participants for good health and happy news during the current year. He also congratulated them on the occasion of the approaching month of Ramadan. He said that the center strives to provide a rich experience to closely learn about Korean culture.
