The Egyptian Committee for the World Youth Festival (WYF)has concluded its work in selecting the Egyptian delegation participating in the festival, which will be held from March 1 to 7, 2024 in Sochi, with the participation of 20,000 young men and women from the ages of 18 to 35, representing 187 countries. The World Youth Festival is expected to be opened by the Russian President. Vladimir Putin .
Engineer Ahmed Barani, Chairman of the Egyptian Committee for the World Youth Festival, said that the number of those who registered to participate in Egypt reached 4,600 people from all over Egypt, which reflects the importance of the festival and the interest of Egyptian youth in participating, thus making Egypt the second country in the world in terms of the number of registered people.
Dr. confirmed. Abdullah Al-Batash, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports and rapporteur of the committee, said that the selection was subject to special criteria to reach the best elements capable of representing Egypt, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports will conduct training courses for the participants before travel.
Dr. pointed out. Naji Al-Shehabi, head of the Generation Party and member of the committee, said that I had previously participated in this festival, but the 2024 session differs in form and theme from all previous sessions.
Sherif Gad, Secretary-General of the Committee and the official spokesman, stated that the Egyptian delegation will be keen to present a cultural program through several activities, in addition to organizing an exhibition for the Egyptian pavilion that includes souvenirs from the Tourism Promotion Authority and the State Information Service, and the delegation will include 129 participants.
On the other hand, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, members of the Egyptian committee, in the presence of Major General Ismail Al-Far and the head of the youth sector in the ministry, congratulated the conclusion of the great effort they made in selecting the participants. The minister stressed that the state is keen to support young people and provide them with the opportunity to represent Egypt honorably in international forums.
