Today in Cairo, the Kingdom’s Embassy in Egypt organized the “Cat Walk 2024” march to celebrate International Arabian Leopard Day, which falls on February 10 of each year.
The Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Egypt, Osama bin Ahmed Nuqli, the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Matar, a number of officials from the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, and members of the Kingdom’s mission to Egypt participated in the march.
The participants walked with the aim of raising awareness and encouraging the preservation of wild cats, including the Arabian leopard, which the Kingdom has introduced a variety of initiatives to protect from extinction and return it to its natural environment.
The embassy also held a number of activities directed at children with the aim of introducing them to the values of preserving the environment and instilling in them the principles of preserving it.
On June 12, 2023, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted the “International Day of the Arabian Tiger” resolution submitted by the Kingdom, which more than 30 countries participated in sponsoring, declaring February 10 as International Day of the Arabian Tiger to be celebrated annually around the world.
