The Ministry of Culture signed an executive program with the British National Archives, within the framework of the agreement signed between the Ministry of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its counterpart, the Ministry of Digitization, Culture, Media and Sport in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The program was signed by the Ministry of Culture, Director General of Research and Cultural Studies, Dr. Raed bin Fahd Al-Sufyani, and by the British National Archives, CEO, Mr. Geoff James.
The program aims to cooperate between the two friendly countries in a number of fields, most notably capacity building in the field of digitizing cultural records in the Kingdom using international specifications and standards, and providing support in building the digital laboratory, in addition to establishing a framework aimed at financing research projects and cultural studies related to Saudi culture and related topics. Shared interest and working to inventory the historical and cultural content of the Kingdom, which is contained in the records of the British National Archives and other archives in the United Kingdom.
The signing of this program comes within the efforts of the Ministry of Culture to preserve, document and archive the assets and elements of the cultural heritage in the Kingdom and digitize them, in addition to strengthening the frameworks of international cultural cooperation between the Kingdom and the countries of the world in a way that contributes to achieving the goals and principles of Saudi Vision 2030.
