Breezing fragrance of the Nile of Egypt and the Bosphorus of Turkey, the Turkish Embassy in Egypt celebrated this evening the 135th anniversary of the literary and political activist Princess Qadriya, daughter of Sultan Hussein Kamel… the first Sultan of modern Egypt.
In the presence of a group of diplomats, technicians, media figures and intellectuals, the Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Mr. Salih Mutlu Şen, expressed his love for Egypt’s cultural and historical heritage and a civilization shrouded in mystery and rich in unique treasures.
As an expression of the bonds of authentic brotherhood between Egypt and Turkey for more than 600 years, music was played in Egyptian and Turkish, embodying and rooting the inter-relations between Egypt and Turkey throughout the ages.

To document these connections between the Nile River and the Bosphorus Strait, the mixed blood that runs in the arteries of Egyptians and Turks, a documentary film was shown entitled “Qadriya,” which deals with the various stages of her life and her cultural and political arrivals and tours between Egypt, Turkey, and Europe. Therefore, Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen visited the princess’s grave in the Imam al-Shafi’i cemetery in Egypt, proud of the princess who shook the hearts of Egyptians and Turks with permissible love.

Over the course of 67 years, it is the life of Princess Hussein Kamel, which began with her birth in January 1888 and ended physically in 1955, but her literary works and her political and national struggle towards Egypt and Turkey immortalize her life in Egypt and Turkey. She mastered the art of photography, making statues and history as a thinker, poet and politician. She is the daughter of the Sultan. Hussein Kamel, son of Khedive Ismail bin Ibrahim Pasha, son of Muhammad Ali Al-Kabir, governor of Egypt, and her mother, Malak Hassan Turan, who was famous in Egyptian history with the title of Sultana Malak, and she was the second wife of Sultan Hussein Kamel after his wife, Princess Ain Al-Hayat.
Princess Qadriya is the sister of Princess Samiha and Princess Badia, and her stepbrothers are: Prince Kamal al-Din Hussein, Prince Ahmed Nazim, Princess Kazma, and Princess Kamila.
The princess spoke Arabic, Turkish, and French fluently, and she wrote the book A Royal Spectrum, the Collection of Holy Ankara Letters, A Joyful Night, and the Book of Beauties of Life. The best thing Princess Qadriya wrote was what she wrote in two large volumes about “famous women in the Islamic world,” such as Mrs. Khadija and Mrs. Aisha Abo Bakr.
