Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, went to Washington, D.C., at dawn on Tuesday, December 5, for a bilateral visit during which he would meet with a number of members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, including the heads and members of the committees concerned with foreign policy. America in the US Congress, with the aim of advancing and strengthening strategic relations between the two countries.
The official spokesman added that the Foreign Minister’s visit will also include holding meetings with a number of American think tanks and research centers, in addition to participating in media meetings, explaining that the visit will be followed by the Foreign Minister joining the Arab-Islamic ministerial delegation (ASMD)scheduled to visit Washington on December 7, where the delegation will hold a meeting. Meetings with the US Secretary of State, a number of members of Congress, and the American media, in an effort to stop the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, in line with the mandate issued by the recent Arab/Islamic summit.
