The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) welcome for the United Nations to start implementing its operational plan to solve the problem of the “Safer” floating tank and to start unloading its cargo of crude oil, which is estimated at (1.14) million barrels of crude oil.
The Ministry also expressed the Kingdom’s welcome to the success of the international efforts and endeavors of the United Nations during the past years, which culminated in the start of unloading the floating tank “Safer” and averting a marine environmental disaster that threatens maritime security and the global economy in the Red Sea.
The Kingdom clearly appreciates the efforts of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Antonio Guterres, and the working team from the United Nations, who worked to harness all efforts to end the problem of the “Safer” floating reservoir. The floating reservoir “Safer”, as the Kingdom was one of the first donor countries to provide financial grants through the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, as part of its efforts with the international community to solve the problem of the floating reservoir “Saffer”.
The ministry expressed the Kingdom’s aspiration for the end of the unloading of the floating tank “Safer” soon to the ship “Nautica” according to the operational plan of the United Nations. It also thanked the leadership of the “Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen” for its support to facilitate the arrival of the replacement ship to start the unloading process.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed its continued efforts to work with the United Nations and the Yemeni government to end the problem of the “Safer” floating tank.
