Saudi arts and culture participate in the 37th session of the Jerash Festival in Jordan

Amman – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is participating in the 37th session of the Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts 2023 in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which will be held from July 26 to August 5, 2023 in the historic city of Jerash. The Jaras Festival has a wide participation of artists and performance groups from across the Arab world. This is an Arab cultural and artistic event, through which the Kingdom presents its arts and ancient cultural heritage to the visitors of the festival.
The Kingdom is represented in this participation by three cultural bodies through rich activities that reflect the Kingdom’s rich culture and performing arts that have been passed down from generation to generation. The Saudi Theater and Performing Arts Authority will participate during the period from July 27 to 30 with three performance groups that reflect the diversity of performing arts in the Kingdom: Al-Daha, Al-Rafihi, Al-Khabiti, Al-Yanbaawi, Al-Samari and Al-Khatwa. Women’s performance accompanied by the orchestra and the national choir, Samaritan and step arts, in addition to the participation of three performers of the art of the storyteller.
For its part, the Heritage Authority registers its presence through cultural heritage events, focusing on the year of Arab poetry through a brief presentation of archaeological rock inscriptions related to Arab poetry using modern technologies, and a photo exhibition highlighting the world heritage sites registered with UNESCO, in addition to sharing a display of crafts and handicrafts shared between Saudi Arabia and Jordan with content related to each craft in an innovative way, most notably the craft of Al Sadu and weaving, Al Qat Al Asiri, woodwork, and handicrafts. Pottery and pottery, gypsum making, palm artifacts, aqal weaving, and dressing gowns.
The Music Authority is participating in a concert by Khalid Abdul Rahman on Sunday, July 30, as part of the activities of the Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts on the southern stage, during which he will present a variety of the most prominent songs that he sang during his long artistic career. .
The Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts is an artistic and cultural festival that was established in 1981 AD, and is held annually in the ancient city of Jerash, located in northern Jordan. Based on the ancient historical and creative heritage, the festival presents performances by local and international bands, in addition to musical and lyrical evenings by Arab and international artists, as well as various artistic and cultural events from different countries of the world.
The Saudi participation comes as part of the relentless efforts made by the Ministry of Culture, represented by cultural bodies and entities. To promote and strengthen the presence of Saudi culture in Arab and international festivals and events, and to consolidate cultural relations with various countries,
Participation also reflects the keenness of the Ministry of Culture to promote international cultural exchange as one of its strategic goals that it seeks to achieve under the umbrella of Saudi Vision 2030.
