The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United States of America (USA) announced that representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces had reached a cease-fire agreement in all parts of Sudan for a period of 24 hours, starting at 6:00 am on June 10, 2023 AD, Khartoum time.
Under this agreement, the two parties will commit to stopping attacks, artillery and air bombardment, not using drones, moving forces, repositioning and supplying them, and not seeking to obtain a military advantage during the ceasefire period.
The two sides agreed to allow the free movement of humanitarian aid and its access to all parts of the country. Compliance with this agreement will have a role in delivering humanitarian aid to those affected.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America share with the Sudanese people the state of frustration with non-compliance with the previous truces. Therefore, this truce was proposed to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid, break the state of violence and contribute to strengthening confidence-building measures between the two parties, which would allow the resumption of the Jeddah talks.
In the event that the two parties do not abide by this truce, the two facilitators will be forced to postpone the Jeddah talks.
