Riyadh – Launching Fourth Arab Competition Forum tomorrow

The Kingdom hosts the Fourth Arab Competition Forum, which is organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The General Authority for Competition confirmed that the Kingdom’s hosting of this forum stems from the Kingdom’s pioneering role in organizing events and forums aimed at raising the level of cooperation with brotherly Arab countries to enhance fair competition in the markets, to raise the level of consumer welfare in Arab countries, and to stimulate enterprises to develop and innovate.

The forum will be held during the period 23-24/5/2023 AD with the participation of competition agencies in the Arab countries and in the presence of more than 15 experts and representatives of international agencies and organizations concerned with competition. Common challenges with the aim of exchanging experiences. The forum’s activities also include honoring Saudi students from the Kingdom’s universities who participated in papers and research related to competition. Students and competition experts present on the stage discussed lessons learned and ideas drawn from their experiences.

The authority also clarified that the forum represents an opportunity to benefit from regional and global experiences, and to share international expertise and best practices in protecting competition and combating monopolistic practices, which will contribute to protecting fair competition, which in turn creates an attractive economy for enterprises and achieves the well-being of the Arab consumer.
