The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) participates with the countries of the world in celebrating the World Intellectual Property Day, which falls on April 26 of each year, with the aim of educating society about intellectual property, and learning about the role that intellectual property rights play in encouraging creativity and promoting innovation based on it, as the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property celebrates this day in This year, an awareness campaign was launched in various regions of the Kingdom under the slogan: “Women and Intellectual Property: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity”.
The authority affirms its keenness to enable a vital intellectual property system locally and globally, according to pillars that work to achieve excellence in intellectual property operations, maximize them and improve respect for them, in addition to enhancing international influence and leadership of the system and developing institutional excellence, which would contribute to supporting the knowledge society, innovation and creativity. And provide a stimulating environment that protects this creative human production, and raise awareness of the importance of intellectual property rights among Saudi society.
The authority indicated that the Kingdom presented to the world a bright image of Saudi women, who were empowered and supported, through the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, as Saudi women represent one of the sources of strength in the homeland, and an important component of the Kingdom’s human wealth, as innovation and creativity are among the most important factors supporting economic growth in the Kingdom. Women are the basis for generating creations and innovations in various fields of intellectual property.
It is noteworthy that the Kingdom joined as a member of the World Intellectual Property Organization in 1402 AH corresponding to 1982 AD, and the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property participates in its membership to keep abreast of developments in the various fields of intellectual property, which is reflected in a positive impact on intellectual property activities in the Kingdom.
