His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (LAS), received today, April 4, 2023, His Excellency Mr. Hu Heping, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, during his visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt to hold the joint Arab-Chinese art exhibition, which opened yesterday.
Mr. Jamal Rushdi, official spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that Aboul Gheit welcomed the Chinese minister and the delegation accompanying him, expressing his appreciation for the fruitful cooperation existing between the Arab and Chinese sides in various fields, especially cooperation in the field of culture, as the Secretary-General suggested organizing joint workshops on marketing. And the promotion of the Arab-Chinese cultural product, as well as the mutual translation and dissemination of Arabic and Chinese books in order to facilitate the citizens of both sides to learn about the culture of the other.
The source added that Aboul Gheit pointed out the importance of increasing the number of mutual visits of Arab and Chinese artists and creators in order to benefit from new experiences and technologies in the field of cultural industries, as well as building the capacities of stakeholders in Arab countries.
The source stated that the Chinese minister touched on the first Arab-Chinese summit held last December, and stressed the importance of following up on the implementation of its outputs, including issues related to cultural cooperation and dialogue between civilizations, and stressed the importance of cooperation in organizing the workshop proposed by the Secretary-General on marketing Chinese Arab cultural products.
