Egypt condemns death of a peacekeeper of UNIFIL in Lebanon

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, the Arab Republic of Egypt condemned, the 15th of this month, the unfortunate incident involving the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which resulted in the death of a peacekeeper in the Irish unit and the wounding of three others.
Egypt extended its sincere condolences to the UNIFIL mission, the government and people of the friendly state of Ireland, and the victim’s family, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured. In this regard, Egypt stressed the need to respect and ensure the security of the United Nations peacekeeping operations in light of its pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in accordance with the tasks assigned to it by the Security Council.
