The Korean Cultural Center in Egypt will open the seventh session of the Korean Film Festival in Zamalek Cinema next Thursday (November 24). The “Korean Cinema Nights 2022” festival will screen 4 different films over four days, until Sunday, November 27.
For the first time, the four film directors will be invited to attend film screenings, which will be followed by an open panel discussion with the audience in order to answer any questions they may have regarding the content or information contained in the film.

Han Sun-hee of the International Academy of Motion Picture Business at Busan College of Asian Cinema participated in these discussions, to shed light on the Korean film industry and how South Korea has established itself as one of the most influential countries in the global film industry.
Under the auspices of the Korean Film Council’s “Overseas Korean Film Shows Project”, the festival will include a special exhibition of Korean films, with the aim of enriching the public’s knowledge of the various categories of Korean cinema.
On the first day of the festival, “Outstanding Brothers” directed by Yuk Sang-hyo, a comedy-drama film produced in 2019, will be shown. It deals with the true story of the strong bond of friendship between two people. The film reviews the bleak life conditions of each of them after fate brought them together, to form a strong friendship that transcends the blood bond.
“Little Forest,” a 2018 drama film directed by Lim Soon Lai, will be screened on the second day. The film reviews the role of nature in recovery, while highlighting the beauty of the seasonal seasons in Korea and the distinctive foods of each.
On the third day, “Maggie,” the first feature film by director Lee Ok-sub, will be screened. Maggie, a 2019 comedy-drama film, was produced as part of the Human Rights Film Project. The film revolves around the adventures of a young nurse working in a hospital.
The film “Cassiopeia” by director Shin Yun-shik will be screened on the last day of the festival. It is a 2022 drama film that tells the story of a daughter who loses her memory due to Alzheimer’s disease and lives a new life with her father. Cassiopeia won the 2022 Korea Film Critics Association Awards.
In addition to film screenings, a symposium on “Korean film industry” will be held on November 27 at the Higher Institute of Cinema of the Academy of Arts in order to build bridges of cooperation between academics and film professionals in Egypt and South Korea.
Oh Seung Ho, director of the KCC, said that inviting Korean directors to participate in this festival for the first time would undoubtedly provide a great opportunity for all those interested in Korea to enjoy Korean films and at the same time deepen their understanding of Korean culture and society through cinema, as a popular medium. and effective.
Oh Seung Ho confirmed that the center will continue to organize more cinematic events in Egypt – the number one cultural powerhouse in the Arab world and Hollywood in the Middle East – to promote cultural exchange and understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
The opening ceremony is scheduled to start at 6 pm on November 24, with audience entry starting at 5:30 pm. The audience can enjoy a variety of activities inside the cinema hall (13 Shajarat El Dor, Zamalek).
