New York – Foreign Ministers of Egypt and Azerbaijan review bilateral cooperation files and how to develop them

On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on September 23, 2022, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jehun Bayramov.
In a statement to Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said that the meeting dealt with the overall files of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Azerbaijan and ways to develop them, taking into account the previous round of political consultations between the two countries last July in the Azerbaijani capital Baku, and the holding of the meetings of the fifth session of the committee. Abu Zeid explained that Minister Shoukry congratulated his counterpart on the success of Azerbaijan’s presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement, which was characterized by activity and movement through a number of initiatives to revive the movement and frameworks of cooperation between its countries, which was appreciated by the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, who was keen to review The position of tensions between his country and Armenia. The Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of achieving stability and preventing the situation from deteriorating, recalling Egypt’s firm position calling for resolving disputes through diplomatic means, and the need to reach a comprehensive and sustainable settlement through diplomatic means.
