The Library of Heliopolis is organizing a seminar entitled “Harassment between the Book of Law and the Pillar of Society” at 5:00 p.m. the day after tomorrow, Monday, as a phenomenon uttered by society and punished by the law and the traditions of the nations about harassment.
Dr. Nabil Helmy, professor of international law and chairman of the board of directors of the New Egypt Society, said that harassment is one of the types of sexual violence that may take many forms and the victim is exposed to it in public places, parks and large markets, public transportation, universities and schools, or in private places at work. Or inside the office, or even inside the house, and the harassment may take the final form, where harassment on the Internet is one of the electronic crimes that are punishable by law, explaining that the discussion will discuss the causes of that crime, its treatment, and the punishment prescribed by the law.
On his part, Dr. Muhammad Al-Khayat, a lawyer, said that the lecture is part of a series of lectures under the title of legal education for the community, in an attempt to simplify the legal materials that touch the community to know what its rights are and what its obligations are.
Referring to the discussion, we confirm that harassment is prohibited at any time and place, and the crime of harassment still haunts the Arab communities after its publication and increasing number of cases during the past few years. Therefore, it is necessary to start the treatment from within in the family dialogue, and the cultural and media institutions should work on the development of intellectual and cultural development.
And as part of the legal education campaign, we decided to have our current article on (crime of harassment), which will discuss the causes of that crime, its treatment, and the punishments prescribed in the law.
