General-Secretary of LAS discusses the situation in the Middle East and Europe with the ministrer of MFA of Spain

The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (LAS), Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, met today, Tuesday, September 13, with Mr. Jose Manuel Alparis, Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA)of Spain, as part of his visit to Madrid.
Jamal Rushdie, Spokesman for the Secretary-General, said that the meeting dealt with a number of issues of common interest and ways to advance relations between the League of Arab States and Spain in the political, economic and cultural fields during the next stage, especially in light of the distinguished relations between the two sides, noting that the Minister The Spaniard was interested in learning about the Secretary-General’s visions regarding the developments of the Palestinian cause, the developments of the Libyan crisis, and the repercussions of the recent Russian-Ukrainian crisis at various levels.
Aboul Gheit called on the Spanish government to support the Palestinian request in the United Nations to obtain full membership in the organization, while the Spanish minister reviewed the latest developments on the Spanish internal scene.
Rushdie explained that the Spanish minister held a dinner in honor of the Secretary-General attended by the Arab ambassadors accredited to Spain, where Aboul Gheit reviewed the positions of the Arab League towards a number of regional and international issues, and addressed the most important topics on the agenda of the upcoming Arab summit scheduled to be held in Algeria in early November. Next, Aboul Gheit also listened to the visions of the Arab ambassadors in this regard, especially with regard to their assessment of the current reality of Arab-Spanish relations.
