President El-Sisi’s speech on the anniversary of July 23, 1952 Revolution
“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful”
The great people of Egypt,
Today marks the 70th anniversary of the July 23, 1952 Revolution, which crowned a long struggle led by the Egyptian people in defense of their right for a proud homeland. This revolution was able to establish the first republic of our state and change the face of life drastically not only in Egypt, but in the entire region. It had inspiring contributions to the global movement to end colonialism and solidify the right of the peoples for self-determination, consequently changing the international map and raising the flags of freedom and independence in most Arab and African countries.
The great people of Egypt,
The history of your armed forces will remain, as always, full of stories of heroism and national achievements. Those include the glorious July Revolution, the flag of which was carried by the armed forces when its vanguards came out on the 23rd of July seventy years ago. They were supported by the masses who rallied behind them, declaring the revolution that restored the dignity of the homeland and the pride of citizens and making history a model for the relation between the people and their army. This relation has been characterized over long decades by cohesion and mutual profound trust; a unique relation between the great proud people and the army representing a model of the national institution that realized its mission and accomplished it in the best possible way, with no deviation.
A salute in recognition and appreciation of this redolent memory to those heroes who stepped forward to lead the revolution and bore their souls on their hands to create a new dawn for their homeland, chief among them was the leader Gamal Abdel Nasser, President Mohamed Anwar Al Sadat and President Mohamed Naguib.
The great people of Egypt,
We insist with a firm and unrelenting will to achieve the major targets, which we have our eyes set on, and the sublime goals that we carry on our shoulders to advance our dear country and change its reality for the better for Egypt to remain capable of providing a decent life for its people, and for the current and future generations. This takes into consideration the current rapid changes and new concerns because Egypt, due to its geographical location and regional and international role, cannot isolate itself from these challenges and changes that sweep the world, having implications on everyone. You may agree with me that these challenges can only be overcome by hard and continuous work, as Egypt has faced various challenges over the past years that had economic, social, political and security dimensions.
I assure you, without the state’s efforts for economic reform, which the people endured, and the mega development projects stretching across the country, it would never have been possible to withstand these severe crises that swept the world three years ago.
Egypt’s successive achievements in recent years, especially in the areas of infrastructure, new urban communities, energy, and the localization of industry stand witness to the resilience of the Egyptian willpower to achieve progress. A witness to building a better future and creating a strong and solid national economy.
The great people of Egypt,
I am certain of the strength of our resolve together to continue with steady and confident steps the path we have all chosen towards the New Republic- a republic for development, a republic for changing the reality, one that establishes a comprehensive intellectual, social and humanitarian system and constructs an advanced human and society, where noble humanitarian values surmount.
In spite of the mounting adverse circumstances caused by many unfavorable international developments, we are able, with the will of God and the determination of the people of this great nation, to overcome them.
Let our celebration today of the glorious July Revolution anniversary be a fresh momentum to work day and night towards the advancement of our dear country and to achieve the ambitions of its honorable people for a bright present and future, where security and stability prevail and development flourishes.
In conclusion, I would like to extend my greetings to all of you once again on the occasion of the anniversary of the glorious July Revolution, wishing you and Egypt safety and progress.
Long Live Egypt. Long Live Egypt. Long Live Egypt.
Peace Be Upon You.
