President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi
The situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone was discussed in light of the recent agreement between Israel and Hamas. In this regard, Vladimir Putin highly appreciated the mediation efforts made by Egypt and a number of other countries to help reach an agreement.
The two leaders exchanged views on the situation in Syria and stressed the need for unconditional respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country and ensuring the legitimate rights of all its citizens, regardless of their political positions, ethnic and religious affiliations.
The urgent issues of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic, agricultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed, as well as the progress of the implementation of major joint projects, including the construction of Egypt’s first nuclear power plant in Dabaa and the establishment of the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal area.
The mutual interest in further strengthening friendly relations between Russia and Egypt was emphasized.
