OHRC participates in the Freedom of Religion Conference in London

The Omani Human Rights Committee (OHRC participated in the work of the International Ministerial Conference on Freedom of Religion or Belief, which was held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Center in the British capital, London, during the period from (5 to 6) July 2022. The conference discussed several axes that focused on enhancing freedom of expression through dialogues between religions and beliefs, building blocks and incentives for effective constitutional protection, early warning and prevention of violations, and freedom of religion or belief as an early warning of human rights violations, in addition to promoting freedom of religion or belief in a digital world. and addressing discrimination and freedom of religion or belief in times of conflict and insecurity.
The conference also addressed the axis of freedom of religion or belief, education for human rights education, the use of technological innovation to promote freedom of religion or belief, the role of the media in reporting freedom of religion or belief, the involvement of the next generation of youth in protecting cultural and religious heritage, and the role of civil society as a driver to change.
The aim of the conference was to address the issues of the university; To combat violations and abuses of freedom of religion or belief, the status of women and social minorities and related issues that parliamentarians and civil society can contribute to resolving or protecting within the framework of human rights.
The committee was represented at the conference by Ambassador Sheikh Humaid bin Ali Al Maani, Vice Chairman of the Omani Human Rights Committee, and Ahmed bin Nasser Al Rashidi, Director of the Committee’s Monitoring and Reporting Department.
