The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has started implementing the Adequate Housing Project in Aden Governorate, in partnership with Alwaleed Philanthropies and the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-HABITAT). The first phase includes handing over 80 housing sites in Al Mualla District out of 600 housing units that will be rehabilitated in Aden Governorate.
The first phase comes as part of the adequate housing project, which aims to provide adequate living conditions for Yemeni families, and cover minor and medium damages to homes and their sanitation facilities; To provide safe living conditions and to create a better urban future.
The Adequate Housing Project covers a special program for training Yemeni cadres in the field of housing; To contribute to building the capacities of these cadres in this field and developing their skills. The project builds the capacities of 40 engineers in the Yemeni housing sector, in the fields of advanced geographic information systems, project management specialized in building and construction, specialized procurement and project costing, and technical and economic feasibility studies.
The project includes providing 200 training opportunities in the fields of vocational training, electricity, solar energy, photography and drawing. The project will contribute to building the professional capacities of young people, building the capacities of Yemeni housing sector employees, helping and supporting needy groups in Aden, and improving the living conditions of families and beneficiaries, as well as Improving the urban landscape.
The project is among (207) development projects and initiatives implemented by the SDRPY in various Yemeni governorates to serve the Yemeni brothers in (7) basic sectors, namely: education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, and capacity building of government institutions.
