Omani Information Minister Welcomes Head of International Federation of Sports Press and appreciates major sports media events

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Harassi, Minister of Information, stressed the importance of meetings with officials of international organizations, in which aspects of media and professional development are exchanged, which is in the interest of developing the media system in general and sports in particular, and forming a solid base of skilled sports media practitioners to work in a sector considered one of the most prominent sectors Youth and sports with direct community interaction.
This came during his meeting with Gianni Merlo, President of the International Sports Press Federation, at the Ministry’s General Court, in the presence of Salem bin Hamad al-Jahuri, Vice-President of the Omani Journalists Association, Salem bin Salim al-Habsi, President of the Gulf Sports Media Federation, and Ahmed al-Kaabi, a member of the Executive Office of the Asian Sports Media Association.
His Excellency the Minister of Information discussed with the President of the International Federation of Sports Press, who participated in the opening of the General Conference of the meetings of the International Federation of Journalists, many aspects of joint cooperation in the field of developing sports media in the Sultanate, as well as attracting a number of international sports events to be held in the Sultanate during the coming period.
His Excellency the Minister of Information affirmed his support for attracting and organizing international sports media events during the next phase in cooperation with the Omani Journalists Association and the International Federation of Sports Press, which will have great professional and media returns through the experiences and expertise owned by the International Federation of Sports Press.
On the other hand, Gianni Merlo, President of the International Federation, expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Minister of Information for the good reception and hospitality and the great interest of His Excellency in supporting and advancing the sports media sector in the Sultanate, especially and in the Gulf and Arab region, through reaching a real media partnership agreement with the International Federation of Sports Press, which is widely implemented on The long-term, which will surely help in the provision of journalists and media professionals specialized in the sports field, who contribute to advancing the process of development and progress of the sports sector.
Gianni Merlo confirmed that he has had a close relationship with the Sultanate of Oman and the Sports Media Committee of the Omani Journalists Association for more than 15 years and has been honored to visit the Sultanate more than once in local, Gulf and Arab sports and media forums that were held in the Sultanate. It hosts international events in the sports media and has media cadres and leaders who have the experience to advance their country in a successful and globally distinguished manner.
