The Sultanate of Oman has completed its readiness to host the 31st International Conference of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) “Congress 31” on the 31st of May, represented by the Omani Journalists Association at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center in Muscat, which lasts for 4 days.

The conference is receiving local, regional and international attention as it is the most prominent press and media event in the Middle East, with the participation of about 350 journalists representing federations, unions and associations of more than 100 countries from different continents of the world, in addition to the participation of more than 50 journalists and media professionals representing newspapers, radios, television stations and electronic newspapers. from different countries of the world.

The program of the opening ceremony includes a speech by Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak Al-Araimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Journalists Association, a speech by Younis Mujahid, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Federation of Journalists, and a presentation of a documentary film on journalism in the Sultanate of Oman.

During the opening ceremony, the Sultanate of Oman’s award for the best press photo in the world will be announced, and 5 families of journalists who went missing while performing their journalistic work will be honored.

During the meetings of the International Federation of Journalists in Muscat, the founding meeting is also held, the presidency and general committees are elected, the plenary session is held to discuss the report of the Secretary-General “Letters of Solidarity”, the continental and parallel meetings of the committees of the General Conference on financial decisions, laws, the report of the Secretary-General, and the report of the Honorary Treasurer, and the election of administrative candidates, in addition to discussing legal and ordinary proposals.

Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak Al-Araimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Journalists Association, said that the Congress conference aims to introduce media work in the Sultanate of Oman and cooperation between various media institutions, in addition to introducing the Omani journalist and media person to all the details of this large organization, which includes more than 600 thousand and 500 journalists around the world.

He added that the work of the conference will include dialogue sessions that include many journalists from different countries of the world, during which their experiences in media work will be presented to the benefit of the participants, whether journalists from inside or outside the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to a lecture on the foreign policy of the Sultanate of Oman and a lecture on the “Oman 2040” vision. The economic and promotional aspect and the presentation of a promotional film aimed at introducing the Sultanate’s economic, cultural and social components.
