On the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the League of Arab States (LAS), Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, affirmed that the League of Arab States has proven its loyalty to its charter over decades. Consolidating its ability to maintain the continuity and regularity of joint Arab action, and with this firm determination, despite all challenges and constraints, it was able to consolidate the feasibility of its presence as a forum for managing the thorny issues of the Arab world.
This is because the League of Arab States, which commemorates the 77th anniversary of its historic establishment, has a rich balance of gains, including maintaining the minimum cohesion of the Arab house in return for objective obstacles in achieving its major goals in an optimal manner.
It was natural, by virtue of the institutional structure of the Arab League, that this balance remain dependent, in the first place, on the will and orientations of the member states, and the extent of their commitment to the established strategies and their conformity with the consensual spirit in decision-making. separate from our countries and peoples…but it is a reflection in the mirror of our Arab reality in politics and economy…and the reasons for comprehensive progress…”
How much we need today to foresee a new and promising horizon for the Arab League that goes along with the efforts and initiatives of the General Secretariat to advance this prestigious organization at the level of all sectors to advance it despite the limited means available, which remain, to a large extent, without the funds allocated to similar regional organizations and groupings.
On this occasion, the Arab League, in the context of critical, complex and fraught international conditions, and extremely fragile regional and local situations, aspires to continue moving at a steady pace to enhance the Arab presence in the international scene in accordance with an ambitious and renewed dynamic in defense of our just causes and interests and in support of the paths of economic integration and comprehensive development.
