Egypt & UN inaugurate volunteer work activities at the Museum of Civilizations Tomorrow to promote volunteer work for development

Cairo, December 10, 2021- Her Excellency the Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, and the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt, Mrs. Elena Panova, will open the celebrations of the International Volunteer Day in a call to promote volunteerism, encourage governments to support volunteer efforts and recognize the contributions of volunteers in achieving the goals Sustainable development (SDGs) at the local, national and international levels, honoring the best volunteers for 2021.
Within the framework of today’s activities, the National Volunteers Award is launched, which aims to celebrate the contribution of Egyptian volunteers and the volunteer organizations they belong to in providing innovative solutions to the development challenges facing their communities as a result of the novel coronavirus pandemic, as well as their effective role in achieving the national development goals and the 2030 sustainable development plan. This award comes within the framework of the celebration of the United Nations Volunteers Program (UNV) for its fiftieth anniversary, as well as the twenty-year anniversary of the launch of the International Year of Volunteers in 2001 by the United Nations Secretary-General.
