On this day last year, the Azerbaijani armed forces began to take measures to respond to the successive Armenian aggressions.
* 44 days.. and confirmation of national identity
These measures were implemented with the aim of responding to the successive Armenian attacks and to provide security and safety for the civilian population, within the framework of the right of self-defense and with observance of international humanitarian law. This response was the beginning of the national war that lasted for 44 days.
* Return of lost rights
The Patriotic War ended Armenia’s 30-year policy of terrorism, unified Azerbaijani lands, and restored basic rights to about one million Azerbaijanis. Azerbaijan has implemented by itself the decisions of the International Council of 1993.
* The historical legacy… and the return of the soul
The liberation of the lands of Azerbaijan has clearly revealed the illegal actions that Armenia has carried out in these lands for tens of years; Armenia has planted a huge number of mines in these lands, deliberately looted and destroyed the historical, cultural and religious heritage of Azerbaijan, stole natural resources, destroyed infrastructure, and carried out other violations of international humanitarian law. In addition, evidence was found related to many crimes committed by Armenia. Azerbaijan has turned to the European Court of Human Rights and the International Court of Justice to hold Armenia accountable for its violation of international humanitarian law and human rights.
The government of Azerbaijan at the present time is rebuilding and repairing the liberated lands, and has taken several steps to ensure the safe and dignified return of nearly one million displaced Azerbaijanis to their homes, as well as to unify these lands. * Azerbaijan archives its glory
The victory achieved by the bravery of the Azerbaijani army under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev started a new era in the history of Azerbaijan, changed the situation in the region and established the foundations of international justice in it.
* Normalization and respect for national sovereignty
Azerbaijan is ready to normalize relations with Armenia on the basis of strict adherence to the principles of international law, especially sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of international borders. We call on Armenia to respect these basic principles of peace, security and safety within the region, and to comply with its international obligations.
* A salute of honor and appreciation to the martyrs of the homeland
We salute with great respect and appreciation the memory of all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, on September 27, which is celebrated in our country as “Remembrance Day” by the decision of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
