Ashraf AboArafe
(Ankara, Turkey – 10 September 2021) – The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), a subsidiary organ of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in partnership with the Diplomacy Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, will organise a training course on “Cultural Diplomacy for the OIC Junior Diplomats” on 13-16 September 2021. The training will be held through a video conferencing platform.
The primary focus of the training is to provide knowledge on the association between cultural diplomacy and foreign policy and to identify processes to formulate and monitor effective cultural diplomacy practices. Renowned experts will deliver the training course, which will provide junior diplomats from the OIC Member States with the opportunity to gain working knowledge and enhance their understanding on how cultural diplomacy is practiced around the world and how to successfully use it as a strategic foreign policy tool in the 21st century.
The Training Course on Cultural Diplomacy for the OIC Junior Diplomats is organised within the framework of SESRIC’s Diplomacy Capacity Building Programme (Diplomacy – CaB), which was initiated in 2017 with the aim to enhance junior diplomats’ diplomatic skills, help them acquire the necessary knowledge about the OIC and assist their understanding of the major regional and international issues.
Since 2017, SESRIC has organised four training programmes within the scope of its Diplomacy-CaB (2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020) and hosted relevant representatives from the OIC General Secretariat, OIC institutions, international organisations, renowned experts, practitioners and academicians who have contributed to the programme by delivering training on various issues of relevance to the OIC diplomatic community.
