Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, met the Egyptian youth delegation sent to the Russian Federation to participate in the Russian-Egyptian Youth Forum (REYF) organized by the Russian Federal Agency for Youth Affairs in coordination with the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the period from 17 to 22 May.
Dr. Sobhi said that the historical and political relations between Egypt and Russia are historical, solid and strong at all levels due to the strength of the relationship between the Egyptian and Russian leaders, which has strengthened great and close cooperation in all fields, including the field of youth and sports, pointing to the importance of cultural exchange programs for Egyptian youth, which work On correcting the mental image of the Egyptian youth abroad, calling on the Egyptian youth to be influential wherever they are, and to correct any false mental image of their country, or any preconceived impressions.
Sobhi indicated that the youth delegation is the largest to visit the Russian Federation, indicating that the visit comes within the framework of the political leadership’s interest in the youth presence in international forums, and in light of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ support for the year of Egyptian-Russian humanitarian exchange through youth.
The minister also praised the youth of the Russian-Egyptian Youth Forum, praising their distinguished participation during the days of the forum. He also praised the selection of participating youth from different sectors and backgrounds representing different governorates of the Republic, and from various fields such as volunteer work, creative industries, entrepreneurship, and youth diplomacy.
Mr minister pointed out that the forum is a dialogue platform that is the first of its kind between Egyptian and Russian youth, which contributed to creating a large space for increasing cohesion and networking between Egyptian and Russian youth. The forum also helped to activate youth diplomacy to serve the two countries, and to involve young people in developing cooperation between Egypt and Russia. He contributed to creating a climate for the development of joint projects and programs between Egyptian and Russian youth, in addition to developing proposals to further develop youth cooperation between Egypt and Russia.
During the meeting, the Egyptian youth reviewed their experience during the first Russian-Egyptian Youth Forum, the future development of relations and how they were able to achieve cultural exchange and extract common qualities between the two countries, explaining the great support of the political leadership and Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, for the appearance of the forum in a manner befitting the name of Egypt.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi honored the members of the delegation, thanking them for their distinguished participation in the forum, amid great praise for the delegation’s participation from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is worth noting that the forum is the first event of the Egyptian-Russian Humanitarian Exchange Year, which was agreed to be launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Vladimir Putin, during the summit of the two countries’ presidents in Sochi in October 2018.
It is also a comprehensive and unique event in the history of the two countries and the first of its kind, and a large number of cultural, artistic, literary, tourist, sports, student, educational and youth events will be organized in exchange between the two countries to strengthen relations in various fields.
