Saudi Arabia, represented by the National Center for Metrology and Calibration at the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality, is organizing, on Tuesday May 25, 2021 AD, the International Metrology Forum under the slogan “Measurement for Health”, coinciding with the world’s celebration of the International Day of Measurement for this year, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce, Chairman of the Council Management of the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality, Dr. Majed bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi.
The activities of the scientific forum will be attended by the Director of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures Dr. Martin Molten, the Director of the International Bureau of Legal Metrology Anthony Donnellan, and from the National Institute of Measurement in the United Kingdom Graham Machin, while the Assistant Minister of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abd Al-Aali, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer will participate. For the medical devices and products sector at the Food and Drug General Authority, Engineer Ali Al-Dhalaan, and the General Director of the National Center for Measurement and Calibration in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Ismail Al-Falih.
In a panel discussion entitled “Measurement for Health,” the forum will discuss local and international experiences in facing the Corona pandemic, the role of national laboratories and measurement centers during the pandemic, as well as the accuracy of measurement and its impact on the health field, in addition to the role of scientific research in facing the Corona pandemic.
The forum includes two workshops on the impact of metrology in the health field, and the role of metrology in enabling industrial growth.
The Governor of the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi stressed that the importance of this forum stems from the negative effects of the Corona pandemic, which has cast a shadow on all aspects of life, health, economic and social, indicating that measurement plays a major role in strengthening national and international capabilities in economic fields All scientific and scientific, and support for research and health measures directed to reduce the impact and spread of the Corona virus, and to ensure the use of reliable and accurate measuring devices.
