The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Cairo organized a celebration in the presence of the Egyptian media to honor Dr. Ahmed Ragab Muhammad Ali Rizk, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology at Cairo University, for the award of the Friendship Medal by President Shaukat Mirzayev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Uzbek Ambassador Arif Usmanov confirmed that Egypt is an important trade and economic partner for his country, explaining that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries amounts to 40 million dollars, of which 25 million are Egyptian exports, but this does not meet the level of strategic relations between the two countries in light of capabilities. They have the opportunity, noting that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s visit to his country in September 2018 gave a strong impetus and a starting point for the development and strengthening of economic relations between the two countries.
The ambassador of Uzbekistan added that his country is seeking to take advantage of the free trade agreements that Egypt signed with various countries to expand its exports to the Middle East, North Africa and the countries of the Mediterranean basin, and that his country, in turn, could be a starting point for Egyptian products in Asia and Central Asia.
Ambassador Usmanov added that the close relations between the political leadership in both countries give great political support to economic relations within the framework of a true partnership that always contributes to pushing relations forward, indicating that there are opportunities to enhance joint economic cooperation between the two countries, not only in the field of trade and investment, but rather In the fields of education, training, technology transfer, political, cultural and artistic cooperation.
