Head of Agricultural Export Authority in Azerbaijan: We complained to the FAO of significant Agricultural damage caused by Armenian attacks

Ms. Laila Mammadova, chair of the Agricultural Export and Supply Authority of Azerbaijan, said that the Rome-based experts of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) had been informed of the effects of the border clashes caused by the Armenian forces.

“I have provided detailed information to the experts of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on the policy of the Armenian side against Azerbaijan, and I spoke with them during a meeting,” said Ms. Laila, who is the official coordinator of the “Horizons” project that supports the growth of agricultural business in Azerbaijan.

Ms Mohammadova added, “Through the video – today – about the damage caused to the agricultural sector as a result of the shooting by Armenia of our country in the past two weeks.”

The virtual meeting was attended by experts from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and a number of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture in Azerbaijan, who provided detailed information to international experts on the hostile policy of the Armenian side against Azerbaijan, and the systematic shooting against civilians and Azerbaijani farmers living In the border areas and working in agriculture.

Ms. Mammadova explained that during the meeting, the points related to the development goals of businesswomen in Azerbaijan were discussed despite the unprecedented challenges that resulted from the pandemic “Covid-19”, in addition to discussing the decision to reopen the business more broadly in the near future with women farmers who they reside in the border areas that were particularly shot by the Armenian army.

She explained that this project had been started under the supervision of the Food and Agriculture Organization “FAO” and the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, and she explained that the main goal of the project is to improve food security and comprehensive rural development and empower rural women by promoting sustainable livelihoods, helping support them in practicing and developing their small and medium enterprises in the agricultural sector.
