Suez Canal witnesses transiting 1,731 ships April 2020 – Chairman

Up to 1,731 ships carrying about 101.8 million tons crossed the Suez Canal from both directions in April, compared to 1,580 ships that transited the international waterway during the same month a year earlier, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie said.
In a statement released on Monday4/5/2020, Rabie added that the number of ships crossing the Suez Canal last month saw a year-on-year increase of 9.6 percent.
Meanwhile, the chairman noted that navigation movement at the Suez Canal is normal and has not been affected by the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic so far.
