Ambassador Ahmed Abo Zade, the Egyptian ambassador to Canada, hosted a dinner on last Thursday evening, March 12th, at his residence in honor of the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francois Philippe Champaign, in the presence of the Arab ambassadors accredited in the Canadian capital Ottawa.
In a statement to Ambassador Abo Zade, he expressed his gratitude for hosting the Canadian minister in his first meeting with the ambassadors of Arab countries accredited to Canada, who witnessed an extensive discussion characterized by transparency and exchange of views on all developments in the Arab region, and Canadian attitudes towards them, where the Arab ambassadors emphasized the importance of Canada’s continued interaction and interest in supporting Arab issues and advancing efforts to achieve peace, stability and sustainable development in the Middle East.
Mr Abo Zade added that the Canadian Foreign Minister stressed during his meeting his keenness to make his first meeting with the ambassadors of the geographical groups accredited to Canada with Arab ambassadors, an expression of the interest his country attaches to strengthening its partnership with Arab countries, indicating his special happiness that this meeting takes place In the residence of the Egyptian Ambassador, praising the role played by Egypt in supporting stability and peace in the Middle East and achieving development and economic integration in Africa.
It should be noted that the past months witnessed a remarkable growth in the level of high-level communication between Canada and Egypt, and an increase in the level of commercial economic cooperation and political coordination between the two countries, where Canadian Prime Minister “Justin Trudeau” met with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in February on the sidelines of The African Union Summit, and the Canadian Senate and Foreign Minister visited Egypt on various occasions.
