President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his US counterpart Donald Trump discussed the latest developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
During a phone call received by President Sisi on Tuesday3/3/2020, President Trump expressed appreciation for Egypt’s initial signing of a comprehensive, fair and balanced agreement on the Ethiopian dam after several rounds of negotiations in Washington between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.
The move reflects Egypt’s sincere will to resolve the GERD crisis, the spokesman quoted Trump as saying.
Trump told Sisi that his administration would continue its sustained efforts and consultations with the three countries on the dam issue, the representative added.
On his part, President Sisi lauded the US administration’s role in brokering the tripartite negotiations on the dam and the great interest paid by President Trump in this regard.
President Sisi asserted that Egypt pays great attention to this vital file as part of its efforts to defend the interests of the Egyptian people
