20 January – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi has arrived in the UK with a ministerial delegation to participate in the UK-Africa Investment Summit.
The Egyptian President will be a keynote speaker at the UK-Africa Investment Summit.
The Summit will bring together UK and African business representatives, African leaders and delegations, international institutions and young entrepreneurs. It will secure investment deals and showcase the UK’s expertise to ambitious African firms.
The Summit will also set the UK as the partner of choice for Africa and the investor with the biggest impact, in terms of quality jobs, growth and sustainability.
At the Summit new investment deals between Egypt and the UK will be announced in strategic sectors, including healthcare, education, energy, and manufacturing.
The UK Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP, will meet the Egyptian President to discuss the growing economic and political cooperation between the two countries. During his visit, the Egyptian President will also meet His Royal Highness, the Duke of Cambridge.
Ahead of the summit, British Ambassador to Egypt Sir Geoffrey Adams said: “The UK is listening when African nations say they want mutually beneficial partnerships that move beyond aid and attract quality investment to drive growth and create jobs. I am delighted that the Egyptian President is travelling to the UK for the African Investment Summit. His visit will deepen the strong economic and political ties between the two countries.”
