Reported by kingfut, Ahly right-back Ahmed Fathi has responded to talks of a captaincy dispute in the Egyptian national team after being named captain last week.
El-Badry named Ahmed Fathi as Egypt’s captain on Tuesday for their upcoming game against Botswana this week.
As rumors were being circulated that Mohamed Salah will reclaim the captaincy armband when he returns to the squad, Fathi affirmed that he has no problem with that.
“The team’s discipline is more important to me in order to achieve our goals,” Fathi told Time Sports.
“I have no problem with whoever wears the captain’s armband. The most important thing is that we all deal with it professionally to avoid any problems.”
Salah is set to miss out on Egypt’s game against Botswana as he was rested by Hossam El-Badry.
Egypt host Botswana on Monday in Hossam El-Badry’s first-ever game in charge as the Pharaohs’ head coach. Kick-off takes place at 19:00 CLT.
