To promote a culture of tolerance. NR Nasr bin Ihmud Al-Abri represented Oman at the meeting of Arab media experts at the League of Arab States (LAS) today.
As a representative of the Sultanate of Oman, Mr Nasr bin Hamoud Al-Abri, Media Advisor to the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo, participated in the meeting of the Arab Media Experts Group which was held today at the League of Arab States (LAS) under the chairmanship of Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Fawzi Al-Ghwail. It’s the 50th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers scheduled for the end of next month in Cairo under the title “The role of the Arab media in promoting culture of tolerance“.
Al-Ghaweel said that the presence of an intellectual axis for the meeting of Arab Ministers of Information comes within the framework of the Council’s approach to developing its working methodologies and issued a decision in 2004 to select one issue of media work and its concerns to be discussed by the Council of Arab Ministers of Information From which proposals could be derived in the form of resolutions by the Council.
He explained that one of the recommendations made at this meeting on the intellectual axis will be transferred to the Council of Arab Ministers of Education to adopt a culture of tolerance within educational curricula in educational institutions at all levels.
Al-Ghawail pointed out that “if the Arab media were able to work with this culture and adopt it within the drama and documentaries and guidance programs, we will have achieved a step forward.”
