Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman, ordered his Deputy Prime Minister for Relations and International Cooperation and his Special Representative to travel to Egypt on Saturday to head the Sultanate’s delegation to the first Arab-European Summit to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh. On 24 and 25 of this month.
The deputy Prime Minister for Relations and International Cooperation is accompanied by an official delegation comprising: Mr. Bader Bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Futtaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, Dr. Fuad Bin Jaafar Al Sagwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Ahmed Al-Issaie, the Sultanate’s ambassador to Egypt and its permanent representative to the League of Arab States, and a number of officials.
The summit is the first one between the member states of the League of Arab States and the countries of the European Union, hosted by Egypt.
The conference will focus on supporting the understanding and cooperation between the Arab world and Europe, discussing issues of common concern and correcting the wrong ideas of each side.
The upcoming summit also will discuss ways to boost economic cooperation between Arab and European countries, focusing on trade relations and investment in infrastructure and energy, including renewable energy.
Sharm el-Sheikh has announced a high degree of readiness to welcome Egypt’s guests to the summit.
