“Against Corruption”, Shoukry heads to Ethiopia

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, leading a high-ranking delegation, left for Addis Ababa on Wednesday 24/1/2018 to participate in preparatory meetings for the 30th African Union Summit, slated for January 22-29.
According to sis, meetings of the 35th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) took place on Monday and Tuesday .
The 32nd Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council will be held at the level of foreign ministers on Thursday and Friday .
The 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union will be held on January 28 and 29 .
In statements, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said this year’s AU summit will be held under the theme “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation “.
Shoukry will lead Egypt’s delegation to the AU Executive Council meetings, which are scheduled to discuss the annual report of the AU Commissioner and a report by the Committee of Ten Ministers of Finance, otherwise referred to as the F10 .
The meetings will also focus on implementing resolutions adopted at the 27th AU Summit that was held in Kigali, Rwanda, in July 2016, under the theme “Retreat on Financing of the Union”, the spokesman added .
Participants in the meetings will discuss as well a report by the Ministerial Follow-up Committee on the implementation of Agenda 2063, he said .
Shoukry will also participate in meetings of the Ministerial Committee on African Candidatures within the international system, the spokesman said .
He added that the foreign minister will hold bilateral talks with his African counterparts on the sidelines of the Executive Council’s meetings to discuss a host of African issues of mutual interest.
